SWESR would like to thank Joanne and Bailey C. for their generous donation towards Taffy's medical expenses.
Taffy is a 2-3 year-old female Border Collie/English Setter mix. She weighs 55 pounds and has the build and spots of an English Setter, but the head and coat of a Border Collie. Taffy was rescued from a life on the street, where she suffered from skin infections, parasites and had multiple litters of pups.
While Taffy has only been a house-dog for about a month, she has already learned to potty outside, to rest quietly in her crate when home alone, and she loves to sleep on the furniture. Taffy is still learning the difference between toys and shoes, but she loves to play and wants an active family that will play with her. She likes to nip softly at hands while playing, so we are recommending that she not live with children under 12 years old. Taffy’s new home will need to be able to continue working with her on basic manners, obedience and leash training.
Taffy gets along with other dogs beautifully and will fit into almost any pack. She also does well at the dog park, and would love a friendly play-mate! Taffy is cat-friendly as well. She is a smart, people-pleaser and her favorite thing to do is snuggle on the couch, or play with a toy.
Taffy is current on all vaccinations and is also on flea-prevention and heartworm prevention. She is heartworm positive but will be finished with her treatment in mid-May and will also be spayed at that time. Taffy is still getting weekly medicated baths, but her skin infection is healed and her hair is growing back quickly. Because Taffy is still completing her medical treatments for heartworm and spay, she is available for a foster, or a foster-to-adopt home. Taffy is in a temporary foster home near San Antonio, TX.
