Daisy May - URGENT NEED for Foster, Foster-to-Adopt, or Adoption

Daisy May lived in AZ as a house dog with her original family until she was 9 when she was released to rescue. An elderly parent moved into the home and she was tripping over Daisy. Daisy was anxious about all the changes and she bit her foster parents so we sent her to our trainer in Las Vegas for the past year and a half to assess, train and desensitize her. She has gained confidence and trust in her trainer/foster home and co-exists well with the family and other dogs.

Our trainer is moving out of the country in March, and SWESR is looking for an experienced person/home to foster or adopt Daisy May. SWESR will work with the new family and a local trainer to continue her training and positive reinforcement of what she has learned so far. Her issues occur when she is physically handled, usually by the collar. She likely developed collar sensitivity in her first home and the behavior was not addressed.

We were told by her original owners that she is a Llewellen and came from Buckaroo Bondhu Kennels but she did not come with papers so we cannot verify this. With SWESR’s trainer she has learned basic obedience, heel, sit, lay down, off and come commands. She earned her CGC (Canine Good Citizen). Daisy has drive and has completed a lure course successfully several times. She’s not fast but she enjoys it. She does need a home with a secure fenced yard.

Daisy May is social with other dogs, greets strangers nicely, and is affectionate. We are arranging a cat test. We know that she chased cats in her original home but we do not know if she would do harm and that needs to be assessed before a home with cats can be considered.

She is currently in a foster home in Las Vegas. SWESR can coordinate transport within the southwestern US. Potential homes outside of this area may be considered. She is fully house trained and crate trained, spayed, micro-chipped, current on vaccines, and on heartworm preventative.
